Lincoln has more than 250 miles of trails and 1,500 miles of sidewalks, but gaps still limit safe walking and biking near busy roads. About 45% of Lincoln’s streets are in very good condition, while more than half are rated poor or very poor. Preventative maintenance saves money over time, but repair needs remain high. The Long Range Transportation Plan prioritizes cost-effective maintenance, and the Mobility Plan promotes a coordinated “dig once” approach to improve efficiency and stretch funding.
