Anticipated Project Benefits

  • Improve Connectivity

Limited access between the I-70 Business Loop East and Horizon Drive interchanges puts pressure on the local road network. This project strengthens local and regional connections.

  • Support Planned Growth

Planned development near I-70, including Matchett Park and the almost-complete recreation center, will bring new travel demand. Transportation improvements are needed to support that growth.

  • Plan Ahead

This is a forward-looking project focused on access — not reacting to congestion or safety issues, but addressing future needs before they become problems.

A Long-Term Planning Effort

Planning a new interchange is a detailed, multi-step process designed to ensure the right solution is built in the right place — and that it serves the community well into the future. The work involves evaluating impacts, meeting requirements, engaging the community and designing a safe, efficient and future-ready interchange. Completing these steps positions the City and County to pursue funding and move the project toward implementation.
